Sunstone

Sunstone is one of the most distinctive gems we cut, known for a warm glow and a shimmering sparkle called schiller that flashes from within the stone. Some of the finest sunstone in the world comes from right here in the United States, in Oregon, which makes it a special favorite for us as American faceters. Every sunstone in this collection is hand faceted in our Massachusetts studio to capture that inner fire.

Sunstone ranges from soft peach and gold to rich red and even green, often with that signature copper shimmer playing across the stone. Cutting it well is an art, since the faceter has to orient the gem to show the schiller at its best while keeping the color warm and lively. That attention is exactly what sets a precision cut sunstone apart from ordinary material.

At 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, sunstone works beautifully in pendants, earrings, and rings worn with care, and its warm, unusual look makes it a wonderful choice for a one of a kind piece.
